About the project
In this project, the students first followed interactive digital lessons in which a virtual teacher took them past various works of art in the Blue Bay Sculpture Garden. Through short documentaries they learned about the artists, the materials used and the themes behind the artworks.
The sculptures, ranging from monumental stone statues from Table Mountain to colorful glass works, are deeply connected to the history and nature of Curaçao.
During the subsequent visit to the Sculpture Garden, the students saw the works of art in real life and discovered how they relate to subjects such as history, geography, biology and social studies.
After this inspiring introduction, the students got to work themselves. Under the guidance of an artist, they made their own sculpture, experimenting with materials that have a direct link with the island.
Artists that have contributed and participated in this project, among others are, Omar Sling, Avantia Damberg, Roberto Tjong- A-Meeuw and Giovanni Abath.
Working with these artists not only offered them the opportunity to develop their creativity but also to shape their vision and identity within an artistic context.
Please drop in and admire the work of these, our young and talented future emerging artists. It’s up to us and you the public to show our support, we provided the platform and now these young students need you to come by the opening and show your support to our Future, our Students, as the Youth of today are the future of Tomorrow!
In addition to admiring their artworks, you will gain insight into the learning process of the students. What inspired them? What techniques did they use, and how do they connect their work with the culture and nature of Curaçao? The answers to these questions can be discovered in the exhibition, which bridges the gap between education and art experience.
The SchoolvoorBeeld project is supported by Fonds 21, Fonds Cultuurparticipatie, Blue Bay Resort, The Curaçao Museum and the University of Curaçao (UoC).
The implementation of this unique and interesting project is in the hands of the Foundation ‘De Cultuur Kameleon’
