Connecting the Pieces brings together a new body of work by Gwen Anderson in which fragments of porcelain, ceramics, glass, discarded tableware and found materials are carefully reassembled into new forms.
At the heart of the exhibition is pique assiette, a mosaic technique that works with broken and found materials. In Anderson’s hands, each fragment carries its own trace, texture and memory. What may first appear broken or overlooked is transformed into compositions that speak of repair, renewal, fragility and strength.
The exhibition also reflects Anderson’s wider artistic practice. Known for her layered mixed media and encaustic works, she brings a deep sensitivity to surface, process and material. Several works in Connecting the Pieces include encaustic elements, allowing wax, pigment and layered surfaces to enter into dialogue with the irregular beauty of ceramics and found fragments.
Visitors are invited to look slowly. The exhibition rewards attention, revealing details, connections and quiet shifts with every closer look.
Connecting the Pieces is on view at The Curaçao Museum through Saturday, August 8, 2026.
A beautifully produced companion publication is available at the museum for XCG 50.00.
