We would like to invite you to the Opening of a
Very Special
Solo Exhibition
Ku Alma i Kurpa
Martie Genger
Met Hart en Ziel
From 19.00 to 21.00
RSVP: info@hetcuracaosch.museumMartie Genger is very well known as a visual artist, poetess and writer and needs very little introduction because of her decades in the field of Art and Culture. Martie haKu lived in Curaçao since 1969, with an interruption of eleven years in Costa Rica, where she has continued with her work as a Visual Artist as well. It has been a while since we have had the pleasure of admiring her beautiful and very meaningful artwork in a Solo Exhibition.
Nothing Martie creates is without ‘reason’ ‘motive’ and or ‘emotion’. Her complete ‘oeuvre’ is richly layered and exudes the wisdom of a deeper insight. Martie pours her ‘Heart and Soul’ in each and every one of her works of Art.
This ‘multi-talented, sharp-witted, beautiful-strong-but-also-not-afraid-to-show-you-her-vulnerability’ lady has allowed us to make her take over our Museum.
We say make her because next to all of the above mentioned, Martie Genger is also modest. A very unique and complex combination, which also reflects in her Art.
We have filled the Museum entirely, from top to bottom, with almost all of Martie’s works of Art, and if you are already well acquainted with Martie’s Art and have visited her exhibitions over the years, you might think that you have seen it all. But we can assure you that you have not seen Martie Genger’s work exhibited in the manner that it has been curated (especially for this exhibition)….
with a lot of great care, love and respect.
This exhibition is curated and the artworks displayed in a very unique and interesting manner by our very own Mariëtte Arkenbout – van Soesbergen, together and with the great support of Art Handler, Pedro Angela, with his years of experience of working at the Boijmans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam and also his vast experience on the International Art Scene. Assisted by a team especially assembled for this Exhibition.
This exhibition is an Ode to Martie Genger and her years of HeART work!
